Basic Skincare routine for different skin types

Hey Guys, welcome to another week!

Following on from our first blog where we talked about the various skin types, we’d like to take you on another journey; How to care for your skin. So, hold on tight guys. In case you missed the first blog, check here.

There is more to come on our blogs, so watch this space. We will be giving you an introduction to the Korean ten- step skincare routine in our next blog and even though we know these ten steps may not be for everyone, in this blog, we will talk you through the basics of skincare routine and tips for the different skin types.

The fundamental steps in skincare (more like the basics steps we expect of you *smiley face*) are the following;

These steps are considered essential because each step complements and balances the other, forming a complete circle of skin health. The main idea behind them is to purify the skin while keeping it hydrated and balanced. This prevents breakouts and premature ageing from occurring.

TIPS FOR OILY SKIN

Oily skin needs a cocktail of cleansing, hydration, and exfoliation to look its best. Paying a great deal of attention to how your skin feels is important in deciding what works best for you since everyone’s skin is a little different. The following tips could help to bring your skin ‘back to shape”

Cleanse your skin twice daily as oily areas need to be cleansed of oil.

Keep it toned. Whilst this may seem like an optional step to some, but it can be really helpful for managing oily skin. Toning can help remove excess oils and helps your cleanser get deep into the skin pores. A gentle toner like the COSRX Centella Water Alcohol-Free Toner, free of alcohol and other harsh ingredients such as menthol would be ideal as these ingredients can dry out the skin, causing already oily skin to produce more oils to compensate.

Exfoliate: Using a mask or exfoliating stick.

To help, ensure your skincare routine begins with a delicate cleanser, and ends with an oil-free moisturiser like the COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence.

TIPS FOR COMBINATION SKIN

To cleanse your skin, pay attention to the T-zones as these oily areas need to be cleansed of oil, yet whilst ensuring drier areas do not dry out further.

To help, ensure your skincare routine begins with a delicate cleanser, the best types are ones that will mattify your T-zones and ends with an oil-free moisturiser. Balance with a toner followed by regular moisturiser (a minimal- sized amount of moisturiser is enough) and protect with sunscreen. Exfoliate regularly but not too often.

Final Thoughts

Drinking lots of water is the most natural way to get that healthy, plump skin, and the cheapest too. However, It’s so important to choose a low pH cleanser, preferably with a pH below 5.5 – especially if you have oily or acne prone skin. For moisturising, Snail extract (mucin)- based products for moisturising are trending now and brings enriching goodness to the skin too. Other ingredients to also look out for in your skincare products are salicylic acid, AHA, BHA, Hyalron and Artemisia essence. Their advantages to the skin cannot be emphasised enough. We’d love to hear your feedback on these tips and any other helpful tips you’ve tried yourself. Please drop your comments below.

You are Beautiful!

Love and Light.
